A record price at auction of £5OOO was paid at Harmers’ for an envelope bearing 1847 Mauritius 2d. blue find Id. orange stamps, for which the American millionaire. 51)'. Arthur Hind, originally paid £BOOO. The dies for these stamps were .made by a jeweller, and their value is due to the fact that he erred in engraving Post Office instead of Post Paid on the whole Mauritius section Mr. Hind s collection to-day realised £33,000. Ihe present London sale totals £6;>.000. The American portion recently sold in New York realised £47.000.
