The Auckland City Council has decided to restore salary and wages_cuts to its employees to the extent of 5 per cent, on £250. t v In making bis recommendation, the mayor said that while any opinion regarding the future must be more or less speculative, there was reason for believing they’had now experienced the worst phase of the’ economic malady, and the restoring of some of Hie temporary impositions was justified. “i regret that complete restoration would not yet be prudent.” added Mr. Hutchison, “but 1 have pleasure iu recommending that salaries and wages cuts be restored on the extent of 5 per cijnt. on £250 or part thereof of each employee's salary pr wages. This Will Involve a sum of £5958 on the rating accounts, £1095 on the’ loan accounts, aud £2170 on the trading accounts, a total of £9823,” the mayor said. The restoration of the ent would be rostrospective to April 1.
