Roosevelt’s Report on War Debts MESSAGE EXPECTED Suggestions For General Settlement By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received May 9, 7.10 p.m.) Washington, Muy 8 New war debt developments which. Administration officials believe, will allow President Roosevelt to send the United States Congress not only a detailed report on debt status, but concrete suggesions for a general settlement, are expected within the next two weeks. No official would say what were the expected developments, but it was indicated that they would form the basis of the expected Presidential Message to Congress. Men familiar witli the progress of the debt negotiations pointed out, however, that envoys of 13 nations which have debt instalments due on June 15 have held recent discussions at the Stare Department, among them the .British and French Ambassadors. SILVER PROGRAMME President Gives Outline Washington, May 8. President Roosevelt outlined to the United States Senate silver advocates on Tuesday a programme involving the nationalisation of silver and a 25 per cent, basis for the monetary system. At the White House it was emphasised that the conference was not final and more meetings would be held.
