Prices at Burnside By Telegraph. —Press Association, Dunedin. May 9. With the exception of lambs, yardings in the major sections of to-day's Bumside sale were in excess of butchers requirements Three hundred and thirtythree fat cattle were penned, and generally the quality was medium. Medium bullocks and heifers averaged 10/- less than last week’s rates, while aged cows were difficult to sell at still lower values. Toward the end of the sale ox beef unproved from 5/- to 10/- a head. Extra heavy prime bullocks sold to £l2/2/6: prime heavv, from £lO to £9/10A: prime, £7 to £8: light and medium. £5/10/- to £6/15/-; best heifers and young cows sold to £6/7/6; medium. £3/10/- to £4 10/-; aged and light. £2 to £3. The quality of the; 936 lambs penned was medium to good. Exporters operated on the lower schedule for heavy lambs, and as butchers were interested only to a minor degree, prime heavy lambs showed a drop of 1/- on last week’s rates. Westfield Sale By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, May 9. There were large yaixliugs of all classes at the Westfield fat stock sale to-day. Price levels were largely unchanged, although there was not the same bright tone as at last week’s sale. Cattle were offered in average numbers, with more good quality cows and heifers. Competition was steady, and all classes were firm on late quotations. There are still a large number of poorer sorts on the market, as many as 7a per cent, of the cows being for the boner market. Extra choice ox beef made 21/- per WOlb,; choice and prime, 17/- to 20/-; secondary and plain, 14/-; prime, young cow and heifer beef, 15/- to 19/- ; other cow beef, 10/- to 15/-. Johnsonville Sale At the Johnsonville sale yesterday, the cattle yarding ineluded good quality bullocks, cows and heifers, and a larger offering than usual of prime vealers. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report that prices of heavy bullocks were on a par w'ith last week’s rates, while medium and lighter weights were slightly easier.
