TROTTING NOTES

Forbury Meeting To-day FIELDS REVIEWED

(By

“Overcheck.”)

The Forbury I’ark Trotting Club’s meeting opens to-day, and promises to be a decided success. The number of acceptors is much greater than usual, and the fields generally are very well balanced. On Saturday Walla Walla is due to race against Harold Logan in a special race, while to-day he is to give an exhibition over half a mile. The presence of these two great horses should ensure a record attendance, and make the meeting a memorable one. To-day's card is as follows: — BAYFIELD HANDICAP, of £125: 3.4 S class; unhoppled trotters. One mils and a half. Ann Parrish scr Journey’s End . 12 Kotinga ....... scr Kllbirnie Dan . 12 Marvin Guy scr Bon Haven ... 24 Mataunga ..... scr Kippagh 24 Paul Bingen .... scr Mother’s Boy 21 Sister Mary ... . scr Sea Gift 24 Tom Mix scr Chiming Wrack 36 Triangle scr Golden Bingen . 36 Walter Wrack . scr Cathedral Rose 48 Esther ........ 12 Orphan Bingen 72 Hakatere ...... 12 Teviot Downs .120 The large field in the Bayfield Handicap includes a number of very promising trotters, and betting is likely to take a wide range. Of the scratch division Kotinga, Mataunga, Triangle and Walter Wrack are sure to be well supported. In such a large field the chances of those behind scratch, are likely to be prejudiced. and the public may therefore accord Walter Wrack, ’ Mataunga and Triangle most support. DOMAIN HANDICAP, of £125; 3.39 class. One mile and a half. All Thorpe .... scr Sadie Ax worthy scr Carillon Chimes scr Summit scr Compass ...... scr Vologda ...... scr Dinner Bell .... scr Wandle Chimes scr Erin’s Chance .. scr Blondie 12 Greenmantle .. scr Dundee 12 Lone Derby ... scr Ronald Derby 12 Rollicking Wave scr Nelson’s Fortune 36 Peter Mitchell scr The three that appear likely to be in greatest demand in the Domain Handicap are Greenmantle, Compass and! Dundee. The first-named has quite a good record this season. As a two-year-old Compass ran 12 furlongs in 3.23 4-5, and has a win and two seconds to his credit this season. Dundee has won two i races, and is the makings of a high-class performer. It is possible that they will be supported in the order given. BEACH HANDICAP, of £135; 2.17 class. One mile. Blue Mountain Ulm .......... scr Queen ser Raider 12 Cannonball .... scr Elite Bingen ..12 Grey Girl .... scr' Golden’Direct . 12 Margaret - King’s Cup ... 12 Chenault scr Mocast ....... 12 Red Spur ser Sure 12 Nelson Pointer scr. Lord Leslie .... 24 Priceless .. scr. Prairie King . 24 Suhbloom .... scr Wild Guy ..... 36 Blue Mountain Queen and Priceless may be preferred of those on scratch m the Beach Handicap. Elite, Bingen has usiially been prominent in the early stages of his races, and the short distance may find him dipcult to beat. Golden Direct and King’s Cup must also receive consideration. When the machine closes it may be found that Blue Mountain Queen, Elite Bingen and Golden Direct have been accorded most support. victory Handicap, of £130; 3.16 class. One mile and three furlongs. Agile ;• scr John Dee ...... scr All Sunshine scr Lena Bingen .. scr BingenwVrack . scr Real Burton ... a cr Carnera - ...... scr Scotfree ...... scr Cliechahco 1... scr Young Travis .. scr Chiming Billy . ear Guymond .... 12 Golden Dollar . scr Llndtum 24 Grand Finale .. set Erin’s Boy .... 38 Jimmy de Oro . scr Young Travis will no doubt be favourite for the Victory Handicap, notwith-. (standing his more recent, failures. Carnera has been, racing in improved form, while Agile is capable of running a smart eleven furlongs. This does not exhaust the possibilities by any means, but the form of the three named may cause investors to place most reliance in them. RITCHIE MEMORIAL HANDICAP, of £325; 4.32 class. Two miles. Great Author ,scr Raydus ...... 12 Lilian Bond .... iscr Erinis Fortune 24 Master Roy .... scr Probationer .. 24 Wiiress ....... scr Ayrmont Chimes 36 Worthy’Queen', scr Royal Again .. 36 Avernus 12 Gold Tinge .. 60 Peter Locanda .12 . The champion trotter Wottby Queen is to take on the pacers in the Ritchie Memorial and she should give a_good account of herself. .However, of tho scratch division it will probably be found that Lilian Bond will receive most support. Avernus and Peter . Locantla are nicely placed on 12yds., while of the others the chances of Ayrmont; Chime look promising as he has been racing very consistently of late. Possibly most support will be forthcoming for Peter Locanda, Avernus and Ajrinont Chimes. ST CLAIR HANDICAP, of £145; 5.2 clasa. Unhoppled trotters. Two miles. Goldborough . scr Esther ’••* Kotinga scr Hakatere ..... Minstrel scr Bon Haven .... M Sister Mary scr Kippagh Triangle scr Mothers Boy .. ;6 Walter Wrack . scr Cathedral' Rose G. Cliudleigh ... 21 Teviot Downs 156 Form in the opening event should gi' e a lead ns to the likely winner of the St. Clair Handicap, but at the time. of writing one would rather expect to find most support being accorded M alter Mother’s Boy and Tr,angle. Ter nt Downs is a very good trotter, but lobyuis a lot of ground to give away. RENOWN HANDICAP, of £139; 3.29 class. One mile and a half. Black Jester .. ser William Tell .. scr Cannonball ...scr Blue Mountain Erin’s Advance scr Queen iKln<r Mae .. set Gunmetal iUrgaret ’ Margaret Bell .. - Chenault scr Red Spur .... 1Morello ....... ser Raider <■ Queen Author . scr , > Morello, who ran War Buoy to a. do. finish recently, may see a short price■ i the Renown Handicap. Margaret Chen atilt has shown useful , f ? rm o^ h ' s n bca ' nl{t y nnd, with, Blue Mountain Queen, may follow Morello in the betting. FLYING HANDICAP, of £160; 2.47 class. Warcss scr Silver de Oro .. 36 G The Yield in the Flying Handicap is very evenly balanced and the finish promises to bq a tight one. N. imbus usun - ly begins smartly and is en itled 10 gr at respect on this account. 1 eter ( Lo au.U is also sure to have a g™ Uol!o " t he does not incur a Chimes, Gold Tinge and “ * have also to be reckoned wi h. 7he ’nee bears a very open appearance bn it is possible that the public may our of Nimbus.
