RETURNED SOLDIERS
Dates of Annual Meetings May 30 was fixed by the executive of the Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association last night as the date of the annual meeting. The chairman, Colonel A. Cowles, and 'the secretary, Mr. J. Spence, were elected delegates to the annual conference of the N.Z.R.S.A. at Wellington on June 26 and 27. A report on assistance-granted- between March 21 and April 20 showed that 88 orders for meals, accommodation, groceries, fuel, etc., ■: costing £66 19/1, were issued by the association. Under the work.subsidy scheme 38 men were employed, the total time worked being 62} days/. Employers i.paid £2O/10/9, which the association subsidised with £l5/12/6. Grants to the auxiliary sub-committees amounted .to £64, and grants to; to £73/15/-. Assistance granted 'to exmembers of the; Imperial and, other forces amounted to £B/8/6. ' ' The following donations were received during April:—Rowland Cake Kitchen, cakes and pies; Mt. Berginan, books: Anonymous, 5/- (Poppy Day fund): “Evening Post," “The Dominion,” “N.Z. Truth.” and “N.Z. Herald,” newspapers.
