Mr. S. S. Dean, stated last night that the meeting with the Auckland. Wellington. Canterbury, and Otago unions had been held. It had been decided to take up the question with the Broadcasting Board. He had had a conference with Messrs. E. C. Hands and Vickery, of the board, and had said that the management committee would make a proposition to the board. On his suggestion the foregoing committee was set up to consider the position and take the question up with the board. Regarding the question of Maori football referred to the management committee by the annual meeting, Mr. Dean suggested that a meeting be held with the Maori executive. Action was wanted speedily, and the position could be outlined to the Maori executive. A meeting with representatives of the Maori unions and the European unions concerned could then be held. The meeting between the management committee and the Maori executive was arranged for May 16.

Hawke’s Bay’s Shield Challenge.The Hawke’s Bay union. formally challenged the Canterbury union for the Ranfurly Shield, should Canterbury still be in possession of the shield when the Hawke’s Bay team tours the South Island this season. The New Zealand Broadcasting Board advised that it was endeavouring to arrange for the broadcast of commentaries on the following matches during the forthcoming tour- of the New Zealand team in Australia: — v. N.S.W.. Sydney. August 4; v. Australia (first Test), Sydney, August 11; v. Australia (second'Test), Sydney, August 25. It was hoped to arrange a short-wave description from Sydney to be rebroadcast, by the board’s stations at Auckland. Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin.In response to an application from the Te One School, Chatham Islands, for footballs, the committee decided to forward three balls. Reinstatements Granted.
