French By-election x Sequel < Faris, April 30. M. Sarret’s by-election defeat of M. Bergery, the Independent Leftist member, who resigned to test the feeling of the Nationalist Government, led to a five hours’ siege last night of M. Sarret’s headquarters at Mantes, on which antl-Fascists rained stones. They also sacked two newspaper offices and burned motor-cars. Police, rushed from Paris, restored order. Fifteen police and 30 civilians were injured.
