Croquet Club. The Eastbourne Croquet Club recently entertained Mesdames Whittaker, Fisher, Foley, and Child, who were successful in winning the B grade shield in their inter-club matches; also Me>dames Robinson. Palmer, and Reesby for'their success in the recent Wellington tournament. Mrs. Andrews, in the absence of the president, welcomed the representatives from town and congratulated the successful members, presenting them with a silver button. Mrs. Austin, president of the Wellington Association, added her congratulations to those of Mrs. Andrews. After afternoon tea. comiM-titions wore held, the winners being: Golf. Mrs. Whittaker; hurry scurry, Mesdames Child and Reesby. Lecture Recital. There was a large audience in Beggs Music Salon last evening for the second of the series of four lecture-recitals by Miss Valerie Corliss and Miss Elizabeth Blake. The soft lighting ami warm coloured furnishings of the room were ill delightful contrast to the bleak out-of-doors and an air of informal friendliness prevailed. .Miss Corliss wore a soft coral pink satin dress, and Miss Blake wore black silk crepe with a cream bow on one shoulder. Among those present were: Mrs. Cor liss Mrs. E. W. Coleridge, Dr. Mitchell. Mr. Von Haast, Mr. W. M. Page. Mrs. A. G. Aldridge. Miss Kalil Aldridge, Misses Kennedy. Mrs. Forster. Miss Hishcock, Misses Wem.vss, Miss Crump, Miss Jordaln, Miss Catherine Keddell. Mrs. Sliorlaml, Mrs. N'ewnham. Miss Hind. Mr. C. Poppleton. Weddings. Simplicity and eliarrn in arrangement.
