TWO MEN ARRESTED
Breaking and Entering Alleged A MIDNIGHT CHASE 'Their attention attracted at about midnight on Sunday by the noise of breaking glass, Constables Phillips and Wilson, who were on duty in the vicinity of R. Hannah and Sons’ Dixon Street premises, approached the building, and, becoming suspicious of the movements of two men who were walking along Dixon Street, endeavoured to stop them. One showed fight, and the other ran away up an alleyway. The former was overpowered. Later, when further assistance was obtained, a search was made of the house into which the second man was seen to go. A number of pairs of shoes were found iu the yard, and an arrest was made.
Yesterday morning. William Murphy, labourer, aged 30, and Thomas Joseph O’Shea, fireman, aged 34. were charged in the Magistrate's Court before Mr. W. F. Stilwell. S.M., with breaking ami entering Hannah's premises and stealing shoes valued at £5/5/-. Both men were remanded until April 24.
