THE SOCIAL ROUND
Trio Music Evening A very pleasant party was given by Madam Evelyn de Mauny as a farewell to Mrs. Victor Lloyd, in the music room of her house at Oriental Parade. The visitors were entertained by the wellknown trio of musicians, Madam de Mauny, Mr. Leon de Mauny, and Mr. Claude Tanner, and an unusually delightful evening was spent.
Lecture Recital. Against a very becoming background of old gold curtains, Miss Valerie Corliss and Miss Elizabeth Blake gave the first of their series of four lecturerecitals in Begg’s music saloon last evening. All the seats were taken, and a delightfully Intimate and informal atmosphere characterised the entertainment.
Miss Corliss wore a charming dress of black silk patterned with rose and beige, a short black velvet jacket with a rose-coloured flower on the shoulder, and rose shoes. Miss Blake’s picture frock of heavy vieux-rose satin was made with long widely-gored skirt edged with a niching, and a net bodice over which a flehu of the satin was crossed. The colour-scheme on the was intensified by a huge jar of dahlias and autumn-tinted leaves beside the piano.
