TO REMAIN IN ITALY

Body of Bert Hinkler Canberra, March 27. . It has now been decided that the remains of Bert Hinkler, the famoifs Australian airman, w-ho crashed in the alpine regions in January, 1933, are to remain in a foreign grave. The relatives do not intend to avail themselves of the offer of the Commonwealth Government to defray the expense of bringing the body back to Australia. Italy has recognised the fame of Hinkler by erecting, at the cost of the Italian people, a handsome memorial over the grave. The body of Hinkler lies in Florence. It is now suggested that the cost of bringing the remains back to Australia, which has been saved, should be devoted by the Commonwealth to the erection of a simple memorial, side h.y side w.ith the costly Italian monument.
