SIP WHILE YOU EAT

Latest Rule for the Table

In our early youth we were all told that we ought not to drink anything until we had finished our meals. Taking sips of water between mouthfuls was declared to be most unhealthy—and our parents' advice was in accordance with accepted scientific theory. Now, however, an authority on dietetics say that this is all wrong. This authority, Professor ,T. A. Nixon, of Bristol University, is reported by the Medical Journal” to have said:

“To get the maximum nutrition out. of solid food, water should be taken in small quantities al frequent Intervals during a meal. “It has been proved by experiments in man and animals that a reasonable dilution of solid food in the stomach makes the food go further. “A dietary which, taken without water, will not suffice to maintain tiie balance of intake ami output can he made to do so by adding water to the meals.”
