Good hems are engaged to-day and interesting contests should be witnessed ; Silver Ring w it be a big attraction in the Awapuni Cup. The Sires’ Produce Stakes will also be an •interesting contest. . The track promises to be in first-class order’ and fust. A convenient train service to the course has been arranged and for Wellington natrons the b.l» from Thorndon will arrive in time for the first race. . ',, ■ ‘ The programme and timetable are as follow 12.15— KAKERE HURDLES HANDICAP, of £l3O. One mile and a half. Easterly .. 10 11 Acervate .. 0 0 Blacksmith . 10 8 Esteem ... 9 « Consent ... 10 8 Royston .. 9 0 Cotsfleld ... 9 H Stroller ... 9 O Gold Ruler . 9 8 The hurdles, in addition to the proved performers at the top of the handicap, also contains improvers like Cotsfield and Esteem, and Gold Ruler may make a showing. Mrs. McDonald s stable provides no fewer than four of the runners —Easterly, Blacksmith, Acervate and Royston, and all, especially the first three, are likely to run prominently. Consent should be improved by his race at Rangitikei. The favourites may be Consent and Blacksmith. 12.55— AUTUMN PLATE, of £BO. Seven furlongs. Special weights. Bold Jim ... 8 5 Round Score 8 5 Boudoir ... 8 5 Royal Quex . 8 5 Dombey ... 8 5 Treasure High Hunt 8. 5 Exchange 8 5 Te Rangitumau 8 a Los Quex 8 5 Windward . 8 5 Remiss .... 8 S

The Autumn Plate contains no outstanding runners. The best form has been shown by Boudoir and Dombey. Bold Jim, Los Quex, Treasure Hunt, Te Rangitumau and Windward have also been promient, and the latter’s running at Wellington was promising. Most money may come for Dombey, Boudoir, and Windward. 1.35— PRINCE OF WALES HANDICAP, of £l5O. One mile and one furlong. Cricket Bat . 9 0 Arrow Lad . 7 10 True Shaft . 811 Retract 7 9 Aga Khan .. 8 5 La Poupee .. 7 7 Count Rust 7 C Palatine 8 5 Senegal ... 7 0 Emotion ... 8 0 Cape Fair ..7 0 Cricket Bat will be better suited by the nine ’ furlongs and he should run well. Aga Khan will be well supported on the strength of his recent form in the north and he should be hard to beat. Count Palatine, Emotion, Arrow Lad, La Poupee and Rust have chances on their recent displays. Favourites are likely to be Cricket Bat, Aga Khan, and Count Palatine. 2.15— WOODHEY HACK HANDICAP, of £llO. Six furlongs. Pheon 8 13 Bon Rapide . 7 9 Prostration .80 Moatoa (incl. Grumpy .... 8 3 41b. rehep.) 7 5 Conference .. 8 2 Ebeum 7 2 Hunting Arctic Region 7 0 Lodge 713 Ramanu ... 7 0 Jayson .... 710 Snowball ... 7 0 Boon 7 9 . In the hack sprint Pheon and Prostration are well recommended by their displays at Trentham last week. Grumpy, Conference and Hunting Lodge look possibles, and of the others, Boon, Bon Rapide and Moatoa cannot be overlooked. The best backed may be Bon Rapide, Prostration and Pheon. 2.55— MANAWATU SIRES’ PRODUCE STAKES, of £3OO. Seven furlongs. Mother Canopy .... 711 Superior . 811 Variant .... 711 Burnish ..8 2 Flaxen .... 7 6 Morbury .... 7 11 Of the six youngsters in the Sires Produce Stakes not a single one is a colt, a striking commentary on the season’s form. Mother Superior has not raced for several weeks, but she is not likely to be produced below form and although penalised she should be hard to beat. Mr. Currie’s pair, Burnish and Canopy, are both liable to improve on Trentham form, especially Canopy, but on last week’s running Variant promises most opposition to Mother Superior. Morbury and Flaxen, on season’s form, are not up to the standard. The best backed are likely to be Variant and Mother Superior. 3.35— AWAPUNI CUP, of £250. Weight for age. One mile and a quarter. Cricket Bat . 9 2 La Modernc . 811 Grand Jury . 9 2 Catalogue .. 8 4 Silver Ring . 9 0 Spiral 8 4 Silver Ring completely dominates the position in the Awapuni Cup. Cricket Bat, if started, might run well, but he may prefer the handicap though his sporting owner is a keen supporter of the class racing. La Moderne may be improved sufficiently to run well and of the three-year-olds Spiral’s form is the better. Backers are likely to go for Silver Ring and Spiral. 4.15— J. M. JOHNSTON MEMORIAL HANDICAP, of £l4O. Six furlongs. Royal Hunting 0 0 Lady Nan ..7 5 Copyist (incl. Good Hunting 7 5 121 b. rhep.) 8 9 Diagano .... 7 3 Porotlti .... 8 1 Cullus 7 0 Lack 7 7 Wellington form again overshadows everything in the open sprint and Copyist is assured of favouritism. Royal Hunting, Porotiti and Lady Nan have chances on form and possibly Diagano or Cullus may be troublesome lightweights. Most money is likely for Copyist and Porotiti. 4.50- ■ TE MATAI HACK HANDICAP, of £llO. One mile and one furlong. Ruri (incl. Heather Glow 8 0 81b. rehep.) 8 11 Red Rufus .. 713 Pango 8 8 Bonnie Vale .7 12 Taitoru ... 8 3 Colosslcal ... 7 10 Calydon (Incl. Kahunoke .. 7 0 81b, rehep.) 8 3 Sir Romeo ..7 8 High Grader 8 1 Ytiiiin 7 7 Tlie form of Ruri, Pango, and Calydon at Wellington will assure them of support in the concluding event. Taitoru, High Grader, Heather Glow, Colossical and Kahunoke may be possibles. The best backed may be Ruri. Taitoru and Pango. COMING EVENTS English Racing Season (British Official Wireless.) .
