ANXIOUS TO PLAY FOR WORLD SUPREMACY
American Tennis Players CHALLENGE TO CRAWFORD AND PERRY By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright (Received March 19, 9.30 p.m.) Philadelphia, March 18. Tilden said to-day that he and Vines would issue a challenge to Perry and Crawford to meet them in singles this season to settle the world's supremacy. They would play Perry and Crawford on any of four conditions—with no admission charged, with paid admission and receipts to go to charity, for a side bet of 5000 dollars each, or for no money at all. Both professionals state that they had been forced into challenging by the decision of the International Federation to refuse permission for open tournaments.
