HISTORIC PORTRAITS
Unveiling at University FOUNDATION PROFESSORS Oil portraits of the four foundation professors of Victoria University College are to be unveiled by Mr. A. I-I. Johnstone, K.C., 8.A., LL.B., at a ceremony to be held on May 5. It had been hoped that the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, would perform the ceremony, but he has intimated to the College Council that he deeply regrets that Auckland engagements will prevent him from visiting Wellington at that time. Three of the portraits, those of Professors J. Rankine Brown, I-I. Mackenzie. and T. I-I. Easterfield, have been subscribed for by past and present members of the College Council, past and present members of the teaching staff, and past, and present students. The fourth portrait—that, of the late Professor R. C. Maclaurin—has been presented by the Massachusetts Institute of 'Technology as a gesture of friendship.
