Victoria College Athletic Team Selected INTER-FACULTY SPORTS At the conclusion of the Victoria University College annual sports meeting on Saturday the following team.was selected to represent the college in the athletic events at the New Zealand universities’ tournament at Christchurch z at Easter:—100 Yards: F. H. Stephenson, W. H. Roberts. 220 Yards: F. H. Stephenson, and W. H. Roberts or F. Donovan. •140 Yards: W. H. Roberts. SSO Yards: A. S. Henderson, L. S. Black. Mile: T. A. Rafter, L. S. Black. Three miles : R. C. Morpeth and one other. Mile walk : S. G. Eade, W. R. Birks. 120 and 440 Hurdles: H. J. Abraham. Putting the shot: F. Donovan, A. H. Armour. Throwing the javelin: H. M. Mclntosh, S. G. Eade. Long jump, hop, step and jump, high jump: J. E. D. Kerr, G. Laughlin. Relay team : T. A. Rafter, A. S. Henderson, F. H. Stephenson, and W. H. Roberts or F. Donovan. ,■ The inter-faculty sports were held in fine but breezy weather at Kelburu Park. There were good finishes in several of the events. One of the best events of the day was the mile flat championship, in which A. S. Henderson, (law and commerce) and T. A. Rafter (arts and science) dead-heated. There was keen competition between P. S. Bowie (law and commerce) and G. Laughlin (arts and science), the two finalists in the high jump, won by Bowie. In the 440 yards Hat championship, A. S. Henderson won by a touch from D.' McElwain (arts and science). S. G. Eade (arts and science) put up a fine performance in the mile walk, staving off by six yards a determined challenge by IV. R. Birks (law and commerce) over the last lap. Arts and science, very successful in the inter-faculty competition in recent years, was defeated in Saturday’s contest by law and commerce by 98 points to 70. Mr. T. W. Leslie was the starter.
