ABOUT DIADEMS
A great recommendation for something, to say that it is fashionable; and flattering ornaments are eagerly pounced upon. But to be both fashionable and flattering—it is perfection. And so we turn at once to the diadem. Diadems for evening wear are enormously fashionable in London and Paris. And no wonder, for they combine dignity with subtlety to an intriguing degree. Not every woman can afford a jewelled circlet, so the designers have created very lovely ones in coloured enamels, handwrought metals and any other number of ingenious and attractive materials. Just as there are types of feminine beauty so do the diadems conform to those types. For the ultrafeminine a bepearled bandeau, or 11 colourful creation of semi-precious stones and metal, and the tailored woman will be more than satisfied with a gracious diadem of white metal or a silhouette model with graceful graduated points springing up from the air. An unusual diadem to suit a high coiffure is a simple one, a plain, ungarnished band of metal, and simplicity once again proves its smartness.
