Fire on the viaduct near the Patea railway station was responsible for delay to trains on the Taranaki line on Tuesday. The express was 24 minutes late arriving at New Plymouth. lire lire, the cause of which is unknown, was only a small one. It occurred in the morning, and (he repairs necessitated caused delay to the early trains, and trains throughout the day were held back a corresponding length of time.
