GLIMPSING THE EAST
Mr. H. Frost Returns From Tour WONDERS OF NEW DELHI Among the spectators at the Wellington Centre's bowling championships on the Wellington Club’g green yesterday was Mr. 11. Frost, formerly of the Wellington Club, and well known here in connection with the. dental profession. Mr. Frost, who now resides at Auckland, only returned to New Zealand at the New Year after a year’s absence in Australia and the East. During his travels abroad he visited the greater part of the Indian Empire, travelling across country from Bombay to Calcutta, and visiting such cities as Agra, Cawnpore, Delhi, and other wonderful places in the valley of the Ganges. He was privileged to see the amazing new city of Delhi, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, the English architect, which reflects everything that is modern in Indian architecture, or rather the form of architecture best suited to the climate of the country. There he met most of the members of the secretariat and other officials, and was afforded every facility for seeing new and old Delhis •under the most pleasant of auspices. Mr. Frost has brought, back with him many thousands of feet of “movie” film of the places he has visited, and may be iiiduced to show them in Wellington before he leaves.
The visitor also spent some time inspecting the rare beauties of the Taj Mahal, which has been so beautifully described by an appreciative visitor as “a love sigh in marble.” He also visited Houg-Kong and Shanghai, and spent forty days touring Japan under the auspices of the. Japanese Tourist Department, which is a wonderfully organised concern not to be overlooked by visitors to Japan. Mr. Frost now has business interests in Sydney and Bombay, and may not be'in New Zealand so much as heretofore.
