WOMEN AND WELFARE WORK
Cancer Campaign Society A meeting of the Cancer Campaign Committee to complete arrangements for a naval concert to be given by the Ships’ companies of H.M.S. Dunedin and H.M.S. Diomede was held in the Navy League rooms yesterday morning. Dr. J. S. Elliott was in the chair. The concert is being given through the kindness of the Admiral, as a benefit entertainment for the Cancer Campaign Society, and will, take place in the Concert Chamber on March 26. The ships’ companies are going to a great deal of trouble to make the entertainment a success, and it is hoped that a considerable amount will be raised, as the society is in urgent need of funds to support the clinics, which are the sole organised means of dealing with' the scourge of cancer in New Zealand. The meeting was called to enlist support and patronage, and several proposals were put forward. It was decided to have a sweet stall at the hall on the night of the concert, and It was proposed to arrange a radio talk to help with the advertisement It was also decided to try and arrange for the sale of tickets at hotels, besides those which are being sold by the cominittee.
