MAKING ROADS SAFER
British Road Traffic Bill WIDESPREAD EFFORTS (British Official Wireless.) (Received January 31, 5.5 p.m. ) Rugby, January 30. The Government’s new Road Traffic Bill, designed to reduce loss of life on public highways, will now remove some of the defects which experience has revealed in the existing Road Traffic Act. It is understood that one proposal of the measure will restrict pedestrians to safety zones when crossing busy streets The Government’s intention is also to use other measures to assist the legislation to reduce road risks and the help of newspapers, the broadcasting system, aud film companies will probably be invited The possibility of restricting some of the horse truffle in some of the busiest streets is under consideration, and the working of tlie automatic signalling system and its developments are receiving attention.
