A WARM DAY

Attendance at Baths Yesterday was what Wellington people regard as a warm day, and visiting Australians as “just comfortable.” Observed at 3 p.m., the thermometer gave a reading of only 76 degrees in the shade, so that on that computation It was just an average summer day. Yet, due to the absence of wind, it seemed to be so warm that the chief magnet throughout the day was the Te Aro Baths. All roads yesterday afternoon appeared to lead to Clyde Quay and Oriental Bay, in which localities scant bathing costumes were the most popular form of clothing. From an inquiry made at. the Te Aro Baths it was ascertained that the attendance figures for January (which ended yesterday) were not comparable with those for the corresponding month last year. Indeed the only two really good days experienced had been the last two days of the month.
