The Westport Borough Council’s diamond jubilee celebrations commence in Westport on Saturday. This will Le followed by a carnival of nine days. Included in the attractions are trots for two days, a sports meeting, whippet racing, a swimming carnival, a surf day. balls, dances, and a special jubilee day street procession. The town is being decorated with greenery, special electric lighting, bunting, etc. Business places have been renovated and brightened up for the carnival. A spirit of optimism seems to be prevailing in the town, and prospects are rosy for a successful Christmas. .
