BOXING AT NAPIER
Oxley Defeats Franklin By Telegraph—Press Association. Napier, December 18. Ted Oxley, New Zealand lightweight champion, gained a points decision at Napier to-night against Joe Franklin after a gruelling contest. In the final round Oxley was groggy from a whirlwind attack by Franklin, who used his right in successive vicious swings. Oxley managed to hang on owing tu Franklin being utterly exhausted. In a heavy slogging bout Luttrell gained a points decision over Sullivan, the bout being characterised by both men making the pace and each taking severe punishment. The decision astonished the house, which almost unanimously voiced strong disapproval
