BOXING DAY EXCURSION
The Wahine’s excursion to Picton on Boxing Day promises to be a more than usually lively one, as there will be a Maori welcome to the vessel on her arrival, a musical band programme on the much-improved esplanade, and a floral procession, a battle of flowers, and other entertainments. Leaving the wharf at Wellington at 8 a.m., the Wahine should be at Pieton by 10.45 a.m. A special train will leave for Blenheim at 11 a.m., which will enable excursionists to see'that town, or.visit their friends, and catch the steamer again by the return train. There will be special launches from Picton to well-known beauty spots about the, upper part of Queen Charlotte Sound, such as Torea Bay, Onahau Bay, Thompson’s Bay and Double Bay. Those whom the Christmas-New Year carnival at Picton does not attract will find plenty of quiet picnic places in charming surroundings. The Wahine will leave Picton on return at 2.30 p.m., arriving in Wellington somewhere about five o’clock.
