Manawatu Observance Palmerston North, December 15. A proposal that the Wednesday following the Christmas holidays should be observed as a whole holiday and that -the Wednesday of next week should be observed as a full shopping day was considered at a -meeting of the Manawatu. Employers’ Association. Under the Shops, and Offices Act, however, it was found that. the proposal could not be carried out. , , The inspector of labour ruled that there must be a half-holiday unless there were two whole -days’ holiday in the week.
