Cricket, Golf, Tennis Provided the long spell of fine weather is continued followers of outdoor sports should derive particular pleasure’from the many attractions today, some of which are given below: — Cricket Competition. The fourth series of senior cricket matches will be concluded to-day. Two games will be played at the Basin Reserve between Old Boys and Hutt and Varsity and Wellington; Kilbirnie will play Institute at Kilbirnie and at Petone the match is between Petone and Midland. The Golf Card. The new Westward Ho golf course at Makara will be officially opened at 2.30 this afternoon by Sir Alexander Roberts, chairman of the council of the New Zealand Golf Association. Golfers are cordially invited to the opening of the links. Mixed foursomes for Lady Bell’s Bowl and the Challenger Cup will be played by the Wellington Club this afternoon on the Heretaunga links. A stroke competition will be played on the Waiwetu course during the week-end. Bowls. The fourth rounds of the Wellington Bowling Centre’s competitions for the senior and junior pennants will be played this afternoon. This will be the last play to take place in these events until January 27 when the fifth rounds will be held. ■ ■ : » Inter-Club Tennis. Teams jn the following divisions will play' in the inter-club' lawn ' tennis, matches at Miramar: Second division men; third A. men; third B men; sixth division; and third division women.
