Fishermen at New Plymouth are reporting larger catches than for months, and, some particularly good hauls have been made in the past few days. On Sunday one party went out to the “Paddock,” a ground a mile or so from the wharf, and returned with a good catch of schnapper, while bapuka and gurnard were caught in good numbers. Another party recently took half a. ton of fish in 12 hours’ fishing. The launchmen fishing at a distance have also increased their catches.
