HARBOUR BOARD CLUB
■First Annual Meeting The first annual meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board Sports and Pastimes Club was held last week m the clubroom with an excellent attendance of members, among whom were Mr. A. G. Barnett (chief executive officer and secretary of the board), Captain A. V. H. Monro (traffic manager and chief wharfinger). Mr. A. W. Travers (accountant), Captain J. McLeod (pilot), aud Mr. M. Smyth (labour foreman). The president of the club, Mr. A. W. O. Travers, congratulated the club on the success achieved during its first year of operations. The executive committee bad done a good deal of work during the year and many successful activities had been undertaken. The library had been a pronounced success and he congratulated the librarian. Mr. 11. Meachem, on the manner in which it had been conducted. The inter-departmental cricket and football games had created deep interest among the staff, he said. The social evenings for members’ wives and families had been a pronounced success, and there was no doubt that with continued interest of all members the New Year in which they were entering would be a most successful one. All the sub-com-mittees had done their best and the result of their activities was reflected in the very fine annual report. Mr. Barnett and Captain Monro also congratulated the club’s officers and members, and held out much hope for the future.

Giibbs (treasurer W.H.8.), Mr. G. Pirrie (mechanical department), Mr. M. Smyth (labour foreman), and Mr. E. D. Alexander (retired members’ section) ; lion, secretary, Mr. G. Welch (traffic department) ; bon. treasurer, Mr. H. Meachem (head office) ; lion, auditor, Mr. J. M. Russell (accountants’ branch) ; lion, librarian. Mr. H. Meachem (head office); executive committees: Construction department, Messrs. H. Hubbard and A. Griffiths; mechanical department, Messrs. T. McGill. J. Hemingway, and C.
