Rear-Admiral Byrd’s Visit

PLANS FOR FRIDAY NEXT

During the brief stay in Wellington of Rear-Admiral Byrd, various’ community organisations are tendering him a combined reception, to be held at the Town Hall on Friday next, at 8 p.m. The Mayor. Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, will preside. The various organisations participating in the reception include the following:—New Zealand Antarctic Society, English-Speaking Union. Instilute of Pacific Relations, University Women's C'ub. Overseas League, Returned Soldiers’ Association, Rotary Club. University Club. Victoria League. Y.31.C.A.

Tlie members of these organisations and kindred bodies may obtain guests’ tickets of admission for themselves and friends by applying to the secretaries of the respective organisations, or direct to the reception committee office. Room 7. ground floor, Dominion Farmers’ Building, or Y.M.C.A., 150 Willis Street.

Following the reception there will be a social evening, which will include musical items by Mrs. Wilfred Andrews, Miss Jeanette Briggs, Miss Marjorie Bennie, and Mr. E. Glading. The programme will conclude with supper and dancing, under Mr. J. A. Duffy as master of ceremonies. The arrangements will be in the hands of 3lessrs. A. Leigh Hunt and L. J. Greenberg.
