Palmerston North Return FIGURES FOR NOVEMBER Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, December 1. The following are the November vital statistics for Palmerston North, with the figures for the corresponding period of lust year in parentheses:—Births, 52 (37); deaths. 17 (21) ; marriages, 16 (25). Tropines for Puppies. ' The question of whether challenge cups should be granted to puppies under six months of age was considered at last night’s meeting of the Manawatu Kennel Club. It was decided to write to the New Zealand Kennel Club expressing surprise at the awarding a challenge cup to a puppy under six months, and requesting an expression of opinion on the question. Flower Show Awards. The following were the winners of the points prizes at the flower show, held at Ashhurst yesterday, in aid of the funds of St. Mary’s Anglican Church :—Cut blooms, Mrs. C. H. Handley (Palmerston North); sweet peas, Mr. A. Currie (Ashhurst); roses, Miss M. Speedy (Whakarongo); decorative, Miss J. Thornley (Ashhurst) ; fruit and vegetables. Mrs. E. Spall (Whakarongo) ; home produce, Miss M. Vnutier (Whakarongo) : home work, Mrs. Fischer (Ashhurst). Mrs. E. Spall, of Whakarongo. exhibited the champion bloom in the rose seel ion.
Rii-n Needed in Feilding. The rainfall in Feilding during November was 1.94 inches, compared with an average fall of 3.67 inches for November. For the eleven months of the year ended yesterday, a total of 31.9 inches of rain has been recorded, compared with an average of 36.75 inches. Rnin is urgently needed throughout the district at the present time.
