POPULATION LOSS
German Census Figures CAUSES ANALYSED Berlin, November 29. Although Germany’s population lias increased 2,700,000 in the last eight years, it is still 2,300,000 short of the pre-war figure of 67,000,000, according to the census. Dr. Burgdorfer, the Chief of the Statistical Bureau, declares that Germany has lost 13,000,000 of her population since 1914, including 6,000,000 due to tlie war, of which 2,000,000 were killed and 750,000 died owing to the blockade, while births fell by 3,500.000. The remainder of the loss is due to annexations from Germany, He also emphasised the great decrease in births since the war.
