OBITUARY

Mrs. Elizabeth Hannay Mrs. Elizabeth Hannay, widow of the late Mr. W. M. Hannay, who was at one time one of the three New Zealand Government Railway Commissioners and later general manager of the Manawatu Railway Company, Ltd., passed away at her residence, liz Wellington Terrace, yesterday mornBorn in Scotland in 1847, Mis. Hannay,. the year after she was married, accompanied her husband, who had obtained a position with the New Zealand Government Railways, to the Dominion in 1876. After residing m the South Island for some years, Mr. Hannay was appointed one of the Railway Commissioners; and the familv moved to Wellington. The late Mrs. Hannay, who was 8b years of age, had been in fdiling health for some months. Of a most charitable disposition, she was an ardent worker for the Kent Terrace Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two sons—Mr. Alex Hannay, Sydney, and Mr. Keith Hannay, Wellington—and three daughters—Mrs. F. C. Wi.ddop, Wellington, Mrs. G. A. Forrest, Palmerston North, and Miss J. Hannay, Wellington. The funeral will take place at 2.30 this afternoon at the Bolton Street Cemetery. Mr. R. J. Mcllraith A prominent business man and keen Rugby enthusiast, Mr. Robert John Mcllraith, died yesterday morning at his residence, 61 Todrnan Street, Brooklyn. Mr.. Mcllraith, a member of a well-known firm of wine and spirit merchants in the city, was 43 yehrs of age. He joined the Oriental Rugby Football Cluji as a lad, and as a player, coach, and administrator maintained his connection with the club until the time of his death, when he was a life member and a vice-presdent. He- was a former president of- the club, and for many years was one of its delegates to the Wellington Rugby Union, on the management committee of which he sat from 1926 until 1929. Mmy representative Rugby players will remember Mr. Mcllraith as a popular manager of touring teams, and he did much for the social side of his club, frequently entertaining teams at his house. He was a member of Dodge Waterloo in the Masonic Order. Mr. Mcllraith leaves a widow, who is a daughter of Mr. C. P. Brockelbank, of Petone.
