BALBO RESIGNS
Vital Changes in Fascist Administration NEW DEFENCE CONTROL By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rome, November 0. The King of Italy has accepted the resignation of the Minister of Air, General Balbo, and the Minister of Marine, Admiral Sirianni. Signor Mussolini will take over both portfolios. General Balbo replaces Marshal Bodoglio as Governor of Libya, the hotter being mentioned as Mussolini s Chief of Staff. It is understood that the resignations are the prelude to the formation of a Ministry of National Defence with unified control of the Army, Navy, and Air Force under Signor Mussolini; The Under-Secretaries for Air and Marine have also resigned. General Balbo is intensely ambitious and the strongest and most vivid personality in Italy- after Mussolini, and reputedly the next Dictator, if anything happened to the Duce, but he has now lost his place in the Ministry. The people applauded when Mussolini removed the previous Ministers, calling it “changing the guard.” but they thought General Balbo’s appointment was permanent. Admiral Sirianni has been appointed vice-president of the subsidised Steel Corporation. Admiral Cavaguari becomes naval Undersecretary, and General Valle, Chief of the Air Staff and Under-Secretary for Air.
