Smith, president, welcomed the visitors, ami acknowledged with thanks tlie assistance rendered to the club. , Mr. W. Perry (president ot the centre) was then culled upon to perform the opening ceremony. After an interesting ami humorous address he also mentioned that it was a happy coincidence that Paekakariki, being the youngest club in New Zealand, should have with them that day Professor Maxwell' Walker, a member of the oldest club in New Zealand. He also mentioned the transformation that had taken place during the last twelve months in the surroundings and congratulated the club on the progress made, aud said he expected the green to compare very favourably with some of the best. . . Mr. Perry then invited Mrs. Slight, one of the oldest residents, to send down the first kittv, and Mrs. J. S. Smith, wife of the president, to play the first bowl. This being done in good style, Mr. Perry declared the green open for play, ami eight rinks were seen in full string. Afternoon tea was served in the tennis pavilion, the tables being beautifully decorated for the occasion. The club wishes to extend its sincere thanks to Mrs. A. Law, Mrs. G. Barnett, and Mr. W. G. Smith for the able manner in which the catering was carried out.
