Forbes, labourer, of Feilding, in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M. Complainant stated that she had been married when 154 years of age. In January last she had left the Palmerston North Hospital after a 20 months’ illness. When she returned home cruelty and Indecency had. been meted out to her, including threats with a razor. One night in Palmerston North defendant chased her through the streets with threats to kill her. She was now driven to charity, and on one occasion had had nothing to eat for 15 days. The magistrate said that if defendant gave an undertaking not to molest his wife, there was no reason why she should not go home and eke out defendant’s 30/- a week with her children. . ... ; Defendant gave the undertaking, but complainant said she would not return home. The case was adjourned for a week in order to enable the parties to endeavour to settle the matter.
