AMATEUR ATHLETICS
Kiwi Club Activities Kiwi, like other amateur athletic clubs in the city, is, at the beginning of the season, experiencing a shortage of Active members who are in form, due, no doubt, to the close proximity of the State examinations. The club, however, was fairly well represented at the recent Labour Day meeting. Furlong did not run up to form, having to be content with second place in the 220 yards. UI. T. Robinson, a new member this season, was successful in the 100 yards—he was off 0 yards. H. J. McLeod iiati no difficulty in winning the mile handicap. Both Miss Murray and Miss Watson were well 'below form, and were never in the hunt. A noticeable feature of the women's 100 yards handicap was that first, second and third places wore filled by members of the Athletic club. 11. Compton won all the way from scratch in the 120 yards junior. McLeod dropped 10 yards—from 40 to 30 —in his in the half-mile. 1 Training-commenced at the Basin Reserve last week. Members arc expected to avail themselves of these facilities, as it is understood that Monday evening meetings are to be held regularly, and next February the provincial and Dominion championships nee Io be held here.
