Home Nursing and First Aid RED CROSS SOCIETY Sister Aitken reported to the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Red Cross Society last week that she | had 554 students .under training in home nursing and first aid at the various primary schools. The Ladies’ Auxiliary reported that members had met regularly at the depot during the month for the purpose of milking up and distributing comforts to families in distress. Some time ago a donation of £25 was received for hie purchase of material to be made up into garments for the dependants of relief workers. A statement had been forwarded to tlie donor giving full particulars as to disbursements and the cases receiving relief. The amount donated was over expended by the society in this work. The work for civilian blind had been continued as usual. A number of cases had applied for assistance during the month, and had been relieved. Arrangements were iu hand for a picnic outing at an early date. The instructional class in Braille had met regularly, continuing its usefulness. Affiliation to the National Council of Women was renewed, the council being notified that the society’s delegates would,be Mesdames Chapman and Hendry. Inquiries which had been set in train at the request of local people befriending an ex-Canadian soldier who had lost his memory, resulted in a sister, who had not heard from him for over 12 years, and who was anxious to get in touch with him, being traced in Word to this effect hail been received from the National Commissioner of the Canadian Red Cross Society. It was decided to again co-operate with the local executive of the U.S.A, in the forthcoming Rose Day appeal. Mrs. Hendry, president of the Ladies’ Auxiliary, reported that a bring-and-buy afternoon had been arranged jin aid of the funds.
