Italy, the appearance in the borax-bear-.ing district of Larderello. in the Vai di Cecina,. of a new geyser (sollioii.e) has suggested the idea that this geyser, together with those which gushed up iu 1931 and 1932, should be utilised for electrical energy for the railways. The new geyser, which has a iliaineter of IQin., is said to emit steam with a pressure of four atmospheres and a temperature of 190 deg. Centigrade (374<leg. Fahrenheit). It is reported that the careful observations which have been kept of the two previous ■ geysers have shown that they have maintained their energy practically constant at all seasons.
