Hastings, is in Christchurch for Cup Week. Miss. Dunnage, Christchurch, is visiting Wanganui. Mrs. E. Christie has returned to Wanganui from Napier. Mrs'. J. R. Hunter, Hastings, is on a visit to Wellington. Mrs. Algar Williams, Featherston, is visiting Christchurch. Mrs. Greer, of Levin,,is the guest of her sister, Mrs! Hollard, Lower Hutt Mrs. Webley, Lower Hutt, has returned home after a visit to Levin. Mrs. H. Roberts, Lower Hutt, is visiting frjends in Masterton. Miss Jean Buckleton, Oriental Bay, is spending a week in Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Rlddlford, Orongorongo, are at present in Christchurch. A conference of women’s clubs is to ■be held in Dunedin in March next year. Miss M. E. Cooper, New York, is staying at the Midland Hotel. Mrs. Hamish Wilson, Bulls, is staying at the Midland Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. S. Kelly, of Messines Road, Karori, are in Christchurch for Cup week. Miss Margery Morice, Eccleston HUI, who went to Christchurch for the races, will return on Wednesday morning. Mrs. J. Bates, Waverley, is, visiting Mrs. C. V. Powell, St. Johns Hill, Wanganui. Miss Nell Simpson, Marton, is the guest of Mrs. G. Van Asch, Christchurch. Mrs A. E. L. Scantlebury, who has been visiting Wellington, has returned to Blenheim. Mrs. Baxter and Miss Lorna Baxter, Karori, are in Christchurch for the Baxter-Weston wedding. Mr. and Mrs. B. Knight have returned to Castlecliff from Christchurch. Mrs. Fry, Feilding, is the guest of Mrs. Ralph Brown, St. John s Hill, Wanganui. Mrs. J. Hessey, who has been on a visit to Australia, has returned to Masterton. Mrs H. C. Brookfield has returned to Wanganui after visiting her daughter, Mrs. L. Hickman, Rotorua. Mrs. Edgar Jones, “Otiritiri," South Canterbury, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Malcolm Miller, Grove Road, Kelburn. Mr and Mrs. Gordon Reid, who are spending a holiday in the South Island, will visit Mount Cook and the Franz Josef Glacier. Miss Joan Swan, Hastings, and Miss Eileen Crawshaw, Gisborne, are the guests of Mrs. George McLeod, Fendalton, Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. A. MeAneny, Wellington, who have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Brice, in Wanganui, are now visiting Napier. Mrs. A. Milne, Christchurch, who has been the .guest of Mrs. 1 A; Barnes, Essex Street, Masterton, has returned, home. Mrs. J. D. Wilson, Pahiatua, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. G. Styles, Rakaunui, has returned to her home. Miss Alice Nathan, Grant. Road, will return from England by the Akaroa, which is expected to arrive in Auckland to-morrow. Miss Rosemary Mackenzie, Wellington, Who has been spending some months in England, will return’ to Wellington by the Akaroa, arriving on November 10. Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Trownson, Christchurch, who have been staying with Mrs. Alex. Scoullar, Lyall'Bay, have left for a tour of the North Island. Mrs. Maurice O’Connor, Wellington, who has been visiting Wanganui, accompanied by her son. Mr. M. O’Connor, has gone to Taranaki before returning home. Mrs. N. Barrer, M.A., Masterton, will edit the W.D.F.U. paper, “The Countrywoman,” until the January meeting of the division, which will be held in Wanganui. . Lady Wilford and Miss Wilford will leave London in the middle of December for Lima, Peru, where Miss Wilford will be married to Mr. Edward PenroseFitz Gerald (states a Loudon correspondent). Colonel and Mrs. C. C. Dowding, Gisborne, accompanied by Mr. J. L. Dowding, Miss E. L. Dowding, and Mrs, M. L. Jameson, Hastings, are returning to New Zealand by the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rotorua, due at Auckland to-morrow. Miss Lyttelton (G. B. Lancaster), the New Zealand authoress, whose latest book, “Pageant,” has been very successful in America and England, will shortly arrive in the Dominion from Australia, and will stay with Mrs. Norton Tanner, Hastings, Mrs. Arthur Rose will leave Christchurch to-morrow for Wellington, where’she will represent the Jewish women of Christchurch at the conference of the Women’s International Zionists’ Organisation, and on November 8 and 9 she will attend the conference of the British Union of the Jewish Women, New Zealand branch. Miss Alice Pollard, the actressdaughter of Mr. Thomas Pollard (O’Sullivan), well known and remembered throughout New Zealand as founder and sole director of Pollard’s Opera Company, was married last month at Marylebone registry office, London, to Mr. Trevor Watkins, the English singer.
