WOOL MARKET FIRM

Sydney Realisations Increase UPWARD TREND IN PRICES By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Sydney. November 4. According to the weekly wool letter of the “Sydney Morning Herald,” 333,000 bales have been sold in the Sydney market from July 1 to October 31. This wool realised £5,916,324, which exceeds the corresponding period of last season by £2.042.106. Values at this week’s Sydney auctions reflected the upward trend of prices at Brisbane and in other Australian selling centres. Yorkshire and Japan were the most active operators, and French and German competition was stronger than usual. The catalogues were the most attractive submitted since the sales began .two months ago, being of a free, fine, bright, and soft-handling character with high yielding types. Of the 50.604 bales offered, 9b per cent, were sold at auction. The advanced cost, of the raw material has influenced prices tor tops in an upward direction in Bradford, and the turnover has displayed improvement, while the trade in semi-manufactures has responded to increased prices much more readily this season than in former years.
