Brighter Radio Programmes
Sir, —This wonderful little country is coining out of the dark clouds of depression—apparently everybody is feeling brighter except those responsible for the programmes given from 2YA each morning from 10 a.m. till 10.30 a.m. This morning's programme is a fair sample:—(l) A dirge-like symphony; (21 “Tom Bowling”—all about death; (31 .“The Death of Nelson”—the same; (4) “Dance of the Dwarfs”—a little brighter: (5) “Plodding Along”—all about carrying a load ; (6) another dirge by Wagner. Surely most people would prefer something bright and gay to start the new day—something radiating those joy? germs we heard so much about from the Town Hall during the winter “sings.” Perhaps yon will be kind enough to publish this letter in your correspondence columns, and we may then see which way public feeling lies, and what other readers of “The Dominion” and sufferers of the 10 a.m. till 10.30 a.m. session think. Some unfortunate people do not have ‘‘The Dominion,” which always seems to look on the bright side, and many of those people have wireless receiving sets, so perhaps the pressure that could, be brought to bear by a good paper will bring a little morning dose of cheer to those said unfortunates.—l am. etc., CYRIL E. SLADE-JONES. - Masterton, November 4.
