Results of Examinations COLONEL ESSON RESIGNS The report presented at the quarterly meeting of the .committee of the St. John Ambulance Association stated that since April 1 last 20 first aid and 13 home nursing examinations had been held. Four hundred and eighty candidates sat for examination. 379 qualified, 71 took the voucher and medallion examination, and 30 failed. Hastings and Waipukurau, the two most reeeutly-formed sub-centres, will complete their classes next month. Sub-eentres had been formed at Napier, Hastings, Waipawa, and Waipukurau. The local committees in all instances were most enthusiastic and keen to carry out the objects of the association. The mayor, Mr. C. O. Morse, presided over a large gathering at Napier last Friday evenin" and classes were to commence immediately. The report also stated that a Medical Comforts Depot had been established, and all members of the medical profession, hospitals and nurses had been advised. A number of loans had been made to date, and thanks were accorded Mrs. G. Millar for the contribution of a number of sick-room necessities. Mr. H. A. Huggins, J.P., honorary treasurer of the centre, and Dr. Arthur E. Palmer had been recommended for recognition in the order. The Hon. Instructors’ Association had held a successful meeting recently, and there were 14 nominations to hand from candidates who desired to become members. A committee comprising Mr. G. Millar (chairman). Mesdames C. B. Gaby, It. G. Wilson and the secretary was elected to deal with the important work of this organisation. A number of first aid outfits had been supplied to various factories. Colonel J. J. Esson tendered his resignation as a member of the general committee of the centre on account of his Dominion appointment to the Commande.ry. The resignation was received with regret, and a record of appreciation was passed to Colonel Esson for his interest and co-operation during his many years with the committee.
