Gibson —Capper The wedding took place in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Levin, on Wednesday evening, October 18, of Alice Mary, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Capper, of Levin, and David Jonas Gibson, late of Christchurch. The church had been beautifully decorated with clematis and palms by friends of the bride. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a classical frock of parchment satin, falling in graceful folds to the ground. The veil, which was held close to the head with buds of orange blossom, formed a long train. Shoes and stockings to match and a sheaf of arum lilies with, spray of asparagus fern completed a charming toilette. , ~ She was attended by two bridesmaids Miss Cissie McFarlane, chief, and Miss Gwen Yuile, who wore long frocks of organdie, with large organdie hats, and shoes and stockings to tone, and who carried posies of Iceland poppies and roses. . The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. J. Horn, Wellington, and those of groomsman by Mr. R. Capper, Wellington. The Rev. Dr. lan Fraser conducted the ceremony, and Miss E. Anderson was at the organ and played the “Wedding March.” The wedding breakfast was held in the Druid’s Hall, where 132 guests were received by the bride’s mother, who wore a frock of lido blue French crepe, with touches of lemon, with hat to match, and whose posy was of cream roses and blue hyacinths. A handsome three-tier wedding cake was cut ‘by the bride. During the evening Mr. and Mrs. Gibson left by car, the bride travelling in a smart buff brown elephant crepe frock and cape with flame trimmings, and flame felt hat. * * Joyce—Curtis At St. Mary’s Church, New Plymouth, the wedding was celebrated on Monday, October 23, of Dora Lillian Vera, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Curtis, Levin, and Warren Stanley, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Joyce, “Maranui,” Omata. The Rev. D. V. Whitlock performed the ceremony, and Mr. Renaud presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a simple gown and coatee of ivory crepe radium, hbr train falling from the waist-line in graceful folds with trimmings of orange blossom, her embroidered veil worn over the face and caught at the sides with sprays of blossom. Besides a bouquet of white roses and heather, she carried a lovely horseshoe of white shirred ribbon, the gift of a friend. The chief bridesmaid, Miss Rita Curtis, si.ster of the bride, wore an ankle-length frock of heliotrope georgette. with-hat and shoes to match and carried a trail of asparagus fern and verbena, tied with heliotrope ribbon. Two small bridesmaids, Dawn and Joy Pennington, cousins of the bridegroom, looked very sweet in long frocks of pink organdie over pink satin, with capes, berets and muffs in a darker tone of velvet. They also wore pink pearl necklaces, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a gold watch and to the chief bridesmaid a necklace of brilliants. Mr. Maurice Morris carried out the duties of best man. • A reception was held in St. Mary’s Hall, which had been decorated with nikau and palm ferns. In the absence of the bride’s mother, the bridegroom’s mother received the guests. Mrs. Joyce wore wine-coloured marocain cut in princesse style with cape lined with canary satin. Her hat was of wine-coloured straw, and she carried a Victorian posy of yellow flowers and prune leaves. The bride’s going-away gowfi was of almond green satin beaute with fawn swagger coat and hat with eye-veil. The happy couple left by car en route for Auckland, where the honeymoon is being spent. * * " *. « Hornabrook—Blathwayt The marriage has been arranged to take place in January of Evelyn Wyuter, daughter of the late Rev. Wynter Blathwayt and of Mrs. Blathwavt, Wellington, to Baden Alfred Hornbrook, Marlborough, son of the late Mr. A. T. J. Hornobrook and of Mrs. Hornbrook, Temuka, South Canterbury.
