FAREWELL PARTY

Mrs A. Baldwin Entertained Mrs. A. Baldwin, who is shortly leaving New Zealand to live in the East, was recently given a farewell party at the residence of Mrs. J. L. Arcus, Hataitai Road. Some sixty guests were present, chiefly those who were associated with Mrs. Baldwin while she was president of the Hataitai branch of the Women’s National Reserve. Airs. IV. Fielding, past president, referred to the splendid work accomplished by Mrs. Baldwin, and expressed regret at her departure from Wellington. In presenting Mrs. Baldwin and her daughter with appropriate gifts, Mrs. Fielding wished them every happiness and success in their new surroundings. Vocal items were rendered during the afternoon by Airs. Wilfred Andrews and Airs. J. F. Woodward. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and the National Anthem brought a very pleasant afternoon to a close.

The sales of milk at the colliery canteen (luring the summer average 8880 half-pint bottles a month, and in the winter months 5184 bottles a month. Aleanwbile the consumption of beer has enormously decreased.
