English and American EXHIBITOR’S BOOKINGS Mr. M. J. Moodabe. who returned to Auckland, from Sydney a few days ago. has booked the complete output of films from the Gaumont and Gainsborough studios in England and the Fox studios in Hollywood for screening in the picture theatres throughout New Zealarn. controlled by Amalgamated Theatres. Lt “ The new contract,” Mr. Moodabe said, “ensures a plentiful supply of firstclass films for all our theatres.. From the Fox studios we shall have pictures starring Janet Gaynor. Warner Baxter, Lilian Harvey, John Boles, Mill Rogers, Herbert Mundin, . and Clara' Bow. to mention only a few. In tne English films there will be such famous artists as Jessie Matthews, Jaek Hulbert, Tom Walls, Ralph Lynn, Cicelv Courtneidge, Edward Everett Horton, Leslie Henson, Madeline Carroll, and Evelyn Laye.” Among the films to be screened will be" "Walls of Gold,” by Kathleen Norris: Richard Adlington’s "All Men Are Enemies”; "Peking Picnic.” "Omen Express,” “Paddy the Next Best Thing.” “Berkeley Square.” "David Harum” the brilliant musical-comedy “Music in the Air,” “Fox Movietone Follies.” “My 'Weakness,’’ with Lilian Harvev; several dramas, including ••The World Moves On” and “Pilgrnna ,r e The Good Companions. Soldiers of the King.” with Cicely Court; neidge; the glorious “Waltz with Evelyn Laye; “Jew Suss, Conrad Veidt; ‘’Evergreen.” a B Cochran show ; "Magnolia Street. Ihe Cuckoo in the Nest,” and "A L>ip ol Kindness.” both Ben Travers tarcOS. with tlie Aldwych cast: and several shows with such stars aS Sir Gerald du Mnui'ier, Jack Hulbert, Ralph Lynn. Tom M’alls, and other notables. Short films of a new type would also come from England next year, dealing with places of historical interest in the British Isles. By permission of his Majesty the King, the interiors of both Buckingham Palace nnd Windsor Castle had been photographed for the cinema.
