Defence of the Pacific
Sir, —Japan is on everyone's tongue just, now; in fact she appears to be tlie leading topic in every paper. But there is one thing 1 notice, find that is that she might not exist for all the notice she takes concerning the remarks about her. Japan is still just what she always was—a silent onlooker. But, she is very much awake and alert. I have a sister in Sydney, N.S.W., anil a friend of hers visited JajMin in 1920. and this is what she told my sister on her return to Sydney : —
"Japan has her eves on Australia for sure. The children :n all the schools are being taught that Australia is to be their future home. In fact, tlie position m another 15 or 20 years will be that Japan will either have to find more territory for her increasing birthrate or else kill her babies —which will she do?”
So you see. Sir, Japan is always looking and listening, but she tells and says nothing, but when she does anything at all. she won’t talk, but she will do it, and mighty quick, and that’s when we will all get a shock. —I am. etc.. . LOOK-OUT AUSSIE! Halcombc, October 31.
