Higher Revenue Returns

EXPENDITURE DECREASES

Preliminary figures of the results of railway working for the four-weekly period ended October 14 were announced yesterday by the chairman of rhe Government Railways Board, Mr. H. H. Sterling. The' gross revenue showed an increase of £17,346, as compared with the- corresponding period of the previous year, and the expenditure showed an increase of £147, leaving an increase in the ne’t revenue for the four weeks Of £17,199.

For the portion of the financial year from April 1 to October 14, the gross revenue has increased by £17,947, ms compared with the. corresponding portion of the previous year, and expenditure has decreased by £47,720, giving an increase in ,the net .revenue .or £65,667, , ' . ,
