ABOUT LEATHER The life of all kinds of leather goods can be prolonged if occasional attention be devoted, to them. Boots and shoes that are worn only occasionally Should be rubbed with castor oil. This will prevent them from getting hardened through lack of use. If, however, they' have been allowed to get into a hardened condition, the same treatment will cure them. To preserve the leather upholstery m furniture or on inotor-cars, rub occasionally with linseed oil, to which a little vinegar has been added. _ Allow an hour or two to pass before polishing with a piece of soft silk. ■ ' ' ' Chamois leather used for cleaning windows will last twice as long if kept in its wet state under nn inverted jar. This retains the dampness and prolongs the life of the leather. . Morocco leather can be revived and restored by painting over with the white of an egg; which should be allowed to dry on.
